| Late 2004: |
Representatives from the Wood County District Public Library (WCDPL), BGSU Center for Archival Collections (CAC), and the Wood County Historical Center (WCHC) met to discuss possible joint projects and other items of interest to all three organizations. Out of these discussions, the idea of a digitization project developed. |
| Mid 2005: |
The three partner organizations, along with the Norwest Regional Library System (Norweld) and the Wood County Genealogical Society (WCGS) developed a grant proposal to submit to the State Library of Ohio in October 2005. To read the grant proposal, click here. |
| March 2006: |
The State Library of Ohio awarded the group a federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant from the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS). |
| April 2006: |
The initial grant period began. Hardware and software were ordered and temporary staffing was hired to work through the end of the five month grant time period. |
| August 2006: |
The initial grant period ended after all goals were achieved and all funds were expended. A final report was provided to the State Library of Ohio. To read the report, click here. |
| October 2006: |
Norweld provided funding for an additional 3 months of staffing so that numerous Norweld member libraries could submit additional photos for the digital scrapbook. |
| June 2007: |
After a year of work, the Black Swamp Memories Digital Scrapbook was posted on the Internet and the public began using the resource. To search the scrapbook, go to blackswampmemories.org. |

The future: We hope to continue adding additional photos to the scrapbook. More information will be posted here at a later date. |
